OMG I can’t believe this weather… Cant run in single digits…. I just can’t…
So I completed another 5.2 miles and decided I needed to replace my shoes. Run was good, not to hard, getting use to running in the cold, which is good. I found myself thinking that by the time I start to love running in the cold the heat will be back and I will be on this learning curve all over again but with the heat. lol!!! Oh the wonders of living with the change of seasons.
I am going to try some new supplements, Shredz, looking for some extra energy, appetite control, and some recovery. I ma struggling on the food front more than I have in a while, maybe the holidays with all the sweets around? I am unsure but I want to get a handle on it as my weight loss has stopped and I am maintaining at 187lbs…. Sucks!!! I wanted to be at 175 by now… People keep talking about a healthy gut, and how this play a big role in how you fell and your weight.. IDK what to believe as things seem to change from day to day. What is go for you today will kill you tomorrow.. I just want to wake up with energy and feel good during the day.
I don’t know if I talked about this before but I have sleep apnea, bad they say. I have a machine I use at night that I HATE!!!! I have been using for 2 years as least and still hate this thing. From what the doctors told me, if I lose weight and get to 130 lbs I may be able to have surgery to fix the remaining issue and not have to use the dam machine.. SO this is also a goal and is behind some of the running. I have several fired that have this same issue and swore that this machine would change my life. well sorry to say but it hasn’t I don’t not fell any better than I did before. As a matter of fact I would say that I sleep less or have a worse quality of sleep now than I did prior to using this thing. I fight with it all night, and many morning wake without it on. I don’t take it with me when I travel as I have come to only wear it to keep my husband happy and since he is not in the hotel with me during the week, I don’t need to wear it… He of course disagrees as I do quit breathing and he worries that he will get a call one day where I didn’t wake and make it to the client.
I just can’t understand how there is not a better way to fix this issue, I cannot sleep with a hose attached to my face at night. With all the technology we have today, jezzz… So I need to keep the weight lose happening so I can get ride of the awful machine and qualify for surgery to fix my sleep issues. Anyway sorry for the rant…
So I am looking for a way in increase my energy as I am not getting the proper sleep and I am not getting much help from my doctors on this front. Hoping that the Shredz product will be the key, I have a sample and everything seem to be of good quality, taste and most important affordable. I have tried several products via sample over the past few weeks and most had good ratings, taste good, but wow the price.. I cannot afford to mortgage my house to get healthy so I was looking for something reasonable that had results. So over the next few months I will be able to give you my experience with Shredz products for women as they made the cut. I am in no way advertising for them, as I paid the $112 for the Toner, Detox, Burner, and BCAA + Glutamine 30day package. but for those that are looking for the same results you will get a honest review of what these products do for me. (if anything in my experience).
Shoes, well no trial and error here I wear , Salomon Speedcross trail running shoes. LOVE them just bought my third pair. There are so comfortable and for the gravel roads and trails I run on these things are sticky and hold tight to the road. Yes, if you run on hard pack or pavement they wear VERY quickly but for me they just work and support me best. I am trying the Vario which is made for more harder surface than the speed cross 3, my last running shoe of choice. So we will see how this shoe holds up. My husband also wears these shoes for just the comfort. My son is on his second pair as he uses these for Football, the tread is great for the running they require and for on the field before they move to practice with cleats. They are just comfortable, look good and well worth the money. Oh well I guess thats my sales pitch for Salomon Speedcross shoes.. Sorry…
Well the new year is here and I will not be hitting the road until the 1st, so I hope you all have a happy New Year, stay safe and enjoy.. Talk to you next year!!!
So I have been running 3-6 miles 4 times a week since my last post. The weather here in Ohio has been a little crazy. On the coldest day two weeks ago I tried running on a treadmill in a fitness gym near the hotel I was staying. Why is running on a treadmill so hard? I just can’t seem to get the miles in on them. I tried all the tricks, cover the numbers set a program that will control the pace and then I can focus my attention on other things. Nothing worked, only made it 2.5 miles before I was os board I couldn’t take it and walked away. Two days later in a different town, I used the treadmill in the hotel gym and I was only slightly more successful, 3 miles.
My conclusion is I can’t focus on the act of running and having an audience is an issue. Outside there is a sense of getting somewhere, the distance is easier as you can see the light at the end of the tunnel per say.. Having people around me that are doing other things or even running seems to distract me from running, I just want to leave and hide. I am wondering if this will be an issue in the race? People will be everywhere, I will need to learn to focus.
On the good side it was 60 degrees here on Christmas and I was able to complete my long run of 6 miles. I finished feeling good, like I could have ran a few more. Todays short run was not as good, only 2.5 miles and at the end I was cramping and felt like I was dragging my fee the last mile. I think it was due to the holidays, sitting so much and just relaxing.
Lack of stretching and weight training is starting to show as well, I am going to need to add this to the mix in 2017. For some reason I can go out and run 6 mile but to do 25 setup the world feels like it will end. I really find no enjoyment in weight training, as I did many years ago. I guess once I see some results, I will enjoy way more as that seems to be the way I operate. I am a results driven girl. So I am on the lookout for a good weight training program for runners, need something that will tighten up my core as I am very weak in this area and to see some results here would help me leaps and bounds…
Please feel free to let me know if you have a good plan that works for you that you would like to share. I am also going to try to blog after every run, I stress try.. I am pretty busy and to find time to sit and reflect is very helpful it is not as easy as it sounds.
Well my first training run is complete, 4 miles. I have not run in a few weeks with travel for work and sickness I found any excuse I could to sit… But luckily my scale did not move. Training began today and I decided to take Roxy, my boxer, with me. She is 9 years old and doesn’t handle long runs well. So since my training schedule had todays run/walk set for only 30 min I thought she could handle it. We once out and started she was doing great and so was I. The hills were not even hard so I decided to extend the run and keep going. I was not running fast or hard but was just out enjoying the weather, the me time, and the run.
Needed this run as we have a few things happening here at the house that are driving my stress levels and it is really amazing how a 45min run can clear your head and bring the stress down several levels. Still have to deal with the issues but I have some creative ideas to possibly save some money and create the look I want for my home. My stress I spoke about above is money related as we have some issues with the foundation of our home. The insurance company is giving me a run around so I have some large out of pocket costs coming this year. We are also planning a trip to Europe this year to visit my oldest son. But my health, weight and this 1/2 Marathon to honor my dad is very important to me.
I need to find balance but also not freeze to death as I suck at running on a treadmill. I find treadmills boring, lose interest very quickly and for some reason get shin splints every time I try to run on one. I found a precor cross training machine for $200, which is a deal, but I don’t know that I want to run indoors. I really enjoy getting out the fresh air, and just being by myself. But I am also afraid of the weather and my HATE for cold and snow…. so I am torn, do I spend $200 I should be spending on my house and them maybe never use the machine? Or do I spend the $200 on winter running and force myself to suck it up..
Now, tomorrow I am going to do some weight training and since the cold weather has blown in here in Ohio looks like the run will be in the cold, so we will see how that goes.. So if anyone has some great winter gear that they use and believe in and is affordable please let me know.
SO its official, I am running the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon in Nashville April 29,2017…. Please feel free to visit my page and donate to a great cause, in memory of a GREAT man, my dad, Tom Tucker. I am going to document all my training here so please feel free to join my team and run with me.. Maybe I will get us all t-shirts, the Wannaberunners.. lol
Lets do this!!!
Welcome, I am starting my blog for my training for my first half marathon. I really wanna be a runner and TNT (Team in Training) is gonna help me. I hope! I will document my runs and my days here so those who want to be a runner and maybe want to see how easy it is to raise $2400 for a great cause is. I was a little nervous about the fund raising but I am sure I can make this happen. A great cause TNT and myself. I will also be posting alot of motivational photos as I use these to hold myself accountable. I am be no means a runner, I have never ran for any reason prior to this. I started in Sept and have made it to an easy 3miles, 12 min miles. I am not fast but I have found that I really enjoy the time to myself and the challenge. I am a professional that travels anywhere from 0-5 days a week, average 3 days a week. So my challenge is finding a place to run, the time to run and overcoming my excuses as I live in Ohio and travel mostly adjoining states so this time of year (winter) is a real bummer. Please feel free to follow my blog and comment on your runs, challenges, and wins. Please do not comment on my grammar or spelling, as I am an accountant and am grammatically challenged on good days, so bad days will be even worse…
